FAQ

How can I tell if my child needs braces?

It can be difficult for you to tell if and when orthodontic treatment is needed. Teeth may appear straight, but misalignment between the upper and lower teeth may be present. Orthodontists are the best resource. We offer complimentary exam and consultation.

Do braces hurt?

Braces can cause a little discomfort initially for a few days. This can be relieved easily with over-the-counter pain relievers, such as Advil or Tylenol, if needed. But you will get used to them after 3-4 days.

How long will treatment with braces last?

It depends on the complexity of your case, your jaw growth rate, and your compliance with maintaining good oral hygiene and keeping regular appointments. Most treatments last from 18 to 24 months.

How often will I need to see an orthodontist while in treatment?

You will need to see us about every four to seven weeks depending on what stage of treatment you are in. This allows us to make the changes needed to progress through treatment.

Can I play sports and instrument with braces?

Of course! For those patients who play sports, we recommend custom mouth guards. Patients who play instruments will gradually learn to position their instrument.
